PROGRAM FEATURES

Teachers are highly qualified and experienced members of the Ontario College of Teachers.

Curriculum follows Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines, which is recognized by all Canadian colleges and universities.

Guidance counselors at each school to help you choose and apply to university or college.

Flexible semesters and start dates allowing you to start at almost any time.

Peer support and cultural exchange programs are available.

Earn Canadian high school credits.

The TDSB learning centres provide you with access to the gym, computer labs, and school library.

Semester Start and End Dates

Each semester is 9 weeks and students can take up to 3 credits.

Tuition Fees

Each credit is $1,750
2 credits per semester (9 weeks, 4 hours per day) $3,500Full academic year – 10 months (8 credits) $14,000

Prices are in CAD. Includes health insurance coverage, materials and participation fees. 

Adult High Schools

TDSB’s five adult high schools support more than 12,000 learners to find career and post-secondary pathways and meet their academic goals. Our co-op, certificate program, and high school credits are offered through our adult high schools. Adult schools offer a variety of credit courses for learners who want to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma, prepare for college or university, or gain job-related training, along with specialty programs like Personal Support Worker and Practical Nursing.

The TDSB operates two types of programs: EdVance is a program specifically for 18-20-year-olds completing their high school diploma, while the adult program applies to all students 21 years of age and older.

Burnhamthorpe Adult Learning Centre

Burnhamthorpe Collegiate Adult Learning Centre (BCALC) offers a variety of credit courses for students wishing either to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma or needing to upgrade in preparation for college or university admission requirements. All programs offer preparation for the college, university, and workplace. They also offer Co-Operative Education, English as a Second Language, Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR).

 

City Adult Learning Centre 

The City Adult Learning Centre (CALC) offers a variety of credit courses for adult students wishing to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma, prepare for college or university, or gain job related training. Through assessment of prior education, current skills and discussion of career goals, an educational plan is prepared which meets the individual student’s needs.

 

Emery Adult Learning Centre 

Emery Adult Learning Centre and Emery EdVance School promote a culture of  life long learning. Applicants 18 +. Join EALC and Emery EdVance to pursue a wide variety of learning opportunities. Upgrade your skills in preparation for college, university or the workplace. The programs provide students with academic and/or technical skills. The caring staff at EALC and EdVance School recognize and understand the need to increase their skills and to gain requisite knowledge; we are available to support students. Classes are held at times that best accommodate students who may have a job or family responsibilities.

 

Scarborough Centre for Alternative Studies 

Scarborough Centre for Alternative Studies (SCAS) is a dual track school that offers educational opportunities to learners. The school provides opportunities for learners to achieve their future career goals in different ways: prepare for further post-secondary education or training, improve skills for employment, and earn a high school diploma.

 

Yorkdale Adult Learning Centre 

The Centre helps students 21+ earn high school credits or certification in an adult setting. Yorkdale’s certification programs include Business/I.T., Personal Trainer, Hairstyling, P.S.W., Childcare Assistant, and Co-operative Education. The Centre offers ongoing support and many program options that recognize a student’s need to combine school, work, and family commitments. Up to three credits toward a high school diploma can be earned in just 9 weeks. Credit courses lead to college, university, Yorkdale certification programs or directly to employment. Students are eligible for additional credits (PLAR) to fulfill the requirements of an OSSD.
